Battery Cell Adapter
is there a way to make an ac/dc adapter instead of having to use 4 d cell batteries. it gets expensive.?
This is for a eliptical stepper that I use and I have to replace the 4 D cell batteries in a very short time. the four 4 D cell batteries are in series so that means 6 volts right but what about the amperage?
You could measure the current consumption with a meter in series with one of the battery contacts, but it almost certainly is well under one ampere. A purchased power adapter (like the 6V 800mA Radio Shack one) would probably be one approach. (Is there a jack for connecting an external DC supply? That would certainly help.)
Another idea: A no-modification solution might be to use two sets of rechargeable batteries and rotate them between the stepper and the charger.
