Laptop buyers today have an inceasingly wide selection to choose from, as the market for low priced laptops has exploded in recent years. However, with plenty of models to select from, with many offering similar features, the choice is not always easy. Much of the decision for many buyers will come down to brand name, with Dell leading the pack because of its good reputation. One model that should be on every laptop purchaser’s short list is the Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. In this article, I will take a close look at the Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop, with special attention to its pros and cons.
In terms of size, this laptop is pretty standard, with a 15.6 inch screen. However, it is relatively compact and not too heavy for a laptop of its size. It comes with a preinstalled version of Windows 7, and has a nice canon lp-e5 battery LCD screen with very clear images. A built in 1.3 megapixel webcam is included, with some neat features like facial recognition.
The true merit of this laptop rests in the fact that it offers very good specs for its relatively low price. As for memory, the 4GB of RAM that the computer comes with is more than enough for almost any kind of user. A dual core pentium processor with 2.1Ghz is also part of the package, rounding out the rather impressive specs on this computer. Unless you are looking to play the latest video games, you should find that this laptop has more than enough horse power for your everyday needs.
Other features making the Dell Inspiron 1545 a nice laptop include a 250 GB hard drive, plenty of USB drives (3 in fact), an 8x DVD drive, and an Intel graphics accelerator.
The Dell Inspiron 1545 notebook’s processing potential was demonstrated in our benchmark tests. When we ran the WorldBench 6 application suite, the Inspiron 1545 achieved an overall score of 85. This makes the Inspiron 1545 laptop suitable for almost any office application, along with multitasking and some sony np-f970 battery photo/video editing. In our Blender 3D test, the Inspiron 1545 recorded a time of 1min 27sec, while our iTunes MP3 encoding test took just 1min 21sec to complete. These are all impressive results for a sub-£500 notebook.
The Dell Inspiron 1545 fared less well in our 3D gaming tests, but we weren’t expecting it to shine. It scored 896 in 3D Mark 06 – enough for older game titles and casual gaming only. In our battery rundown tests, the Dell Inspiron 1545 lasted a reasonable two hours and 51 minutes. This will get you through all but the most long-winded and butt-numbing of movies. For less intensive tasks, such as word processing or web browsing, you can expect the Dell Inspiron 1545 notebook to last even longer.
This is a very popular laptop in the Dell line, and is an excellent choice for budget conscious consumers who want a Canon nb-8l Battery laptop with good specs.
